Ordering a Christmas quilted bedspread gift

With Christmas now just around the corner, thinking about gift ideas for the people you love is exciting. This Christmas, if you are looking for a gift which is extra special and unique, then why not consider choosing a Christmas quilted bedspread which is UK manufactured and hand-finished by Cush Cush?

Our busy elves are at the ready, to make beautiful exclusive Christmas quilted bedspreads, all we ask is that you choose and send us the fabric and then leave the ‘manufacturing magic’ to us!

Which fabric to choose for a Christmas quilted bedspread?

Our quilted bedspreads can be made by using a variety of different types of fabrics. A fabric with a sheen, a cool cotton or something softer and brushed, there are just so many to choose from. Why not go for a Christmas themed fabric or decide on an accent colour which is already featured within the bedroom décor. Alternatively, you can play it safe with a bright snowy white – the detail in the quilting is so elegant, that whichever choice you make, the finished result will look fabulous draped across any bed.

Our quilted bedspreads are made bespoke and to individual requested sizes, from super-king size, to king-size, double, and single – please measure the bed and let us know the size, when you place an order.

Finally, we can quilt your Christmas quilted bedspread gift in a thick wadding, which is ideal for the cooler winter seasons, or they can be made with a lighter wadding which can be used as a lightweight quilt during the spring / summer, or even all year round for a layered look and to harmonise with other bedding.

We’d love to hear from you! Right now, our elves are poised at their machines and ready to sew! To find out more or to place your 2023 Christmas quilted bedspread order, please contact us.

Merry Christmas!

Layering your room to create a cosy atmosphere this Autumn

This October marks the official change in the UK season as the end of British summertime approaches. With the clocks going back during the end of the month, the evenings will soon draw into darkness and so it’s time to snuggle down and get cosy.

Whilst we haven’t quite reached winter yet there is certainly a chill in the air. The days can regularly fluctuate between cooler and warmer weather throughout the UK autumn season. This means that embracing those extra layers of clothing or exploring as to how we can layer our interiors, can help to fend off turning on the heating just yet!

It’s all about the layering!

Within our homes, adding layers is a great way to introduce textures, colour, and pattern, to create interiors which look and feel cosy.

Layering your floor

Rugs are a wonderful option to keep your floors warm. Choose hessian rugs for a natural base floor, then add softer carpet rugs to incorporate detail, design, and colour. Finally finish with a sheepskin or faux fur for ultimate soft texture.

Layering chairs

Sofas and feature chairs can be layered with cushions and a light weight throw to pull over, for when you when you need a little extra warmth. Choose a contrasting colour or pattern which will enhance your furniture by adding style and function all at the same time.

Layering beds

Our UK weather is so diverse which means that Autumn evenings can sometimes be warm and sometimes be cool. By layering your bed with quilts and throws you can create a flexible and comfortable space to either keep cool or cosy up and get a good night’s sleep. Choose contrasting colours and soft luxurious fabrics for maximum satisfaction.

Autumn is on its way, time to give your bedroom a de-clutter!

Whilst thankfully over the last few weeks, the warmer summer weather has seemed to have made a re-appearance, it is becoming quickly apparent that Autumn is only a few weeks away.

The great aspect about September is that it can feel a little bit like giving yourself a restart, following the recent months of holidays, and juggling home life along with enjoying time with the kids or grandkids. September gives us chance to free up time and to take stock of having a sort out at home, including doing some DIY, and making the most of the time whilst the evenings are still light, and the weather is good.

So, this month, here at Cush Cush we are focusing on how we can give our bedroom a de-clutter and freshen up, in preparation for the Autumn season ahead. The question is where to start?!

Ideas on how to give a bedroom a de-clutter

  • Sort out the summer clothes – Source some good storage by using boxes which will sit nicely under the bed or make a feature on top of your wardrobes with some pretty baskets. Use vacuum-pack bags to reduce space and fold away any summer clothes which you know that you won’t use during the winter months.
  • Set up a charity bag – If you haven’t worn it this year or last, then there’s a good chance that the top or dress that you have been storing in your wardrobe, might have had it’s time with you. Set aside a charity bag ready to add to, as your sort through your clothes.Furthermore, sort out your belongings by clearing out any old makeup and brushes. And those Christmas presents that you’ve never used and add them into the charity bag too. This will help you to feel more organised and give your possessions space to access.
  • Give your bedroom a deep clean – Pull out the bed, the wardrobes and the units and give everything a thorough clean by vacuuming under the furniture and wiping around the skirting boards. Finally, vacuum the mattress and give it a turn.
  • Consider what you might like to freshen up – Is that picture on the wall or vase of dried flowers looking a bit tired? By replacing them with some contemporary touches you can begin to lift the style of the interior and give it a fresh appeal.
  • Add some warmth with roman blinds – Roman blinds not only enhance a window but will also help to keep the heat in, as we move into the autumn months. Choose a fabric pattern and colour which will really set of the interior design of your room and make a statement.
  • Swap over your light summer quilt for a thicker option – With the cooler months just around the corner, having a thicker quilt on your bed is ideal to increase warmth whilst you sleep. Choose something which is breathable and feels soft to touch, for ultimate comfort.
  • Complete the room with a quilted bedspread – Hand-made by Cush Cush we manufacture custom quilted bedspreads for all bed sizes including super-king size, king-size, double, and single beds. Customers can supply their own fabric together with the bed size measurements or choose a fabric through our suppliers. Finding your Zen – Creating the perfect bedroom for the best sleep

According to mentalhealth-uk.org, almost 1 in 5 people in the UK don’t get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can be induced through a variety of reasons, from life events to your thinking cycle, environmental factors, and your lifestyle.

Creating a calming environment

Creating a bedroom environment which is good to sleeping in, can be the first positive step to improving a good night’s sleep. Afterall, the area in which you sleep should be a calming place to relax and unwind, following a busy day.

A bedroom which is created as a healthy sleep environment, should:

  1. Feel like a sanctuary of comfort.
  2. Be regularly air-rated to keep the room feeling fresh and cool.
  3. Create a clean and clutter free room, with sufficient storage to hide away everyday items.
  4. Include a good quality and comfortable bed, which feels satisfying to sleep in.
  5. Apply cotton sheets so that the bed feels pleasant and breathable as you sleep.

Methods to help you unwind for a good night’s sleep

Creating a healthy pre-sleep routine, can also help to settle you into a good night’s rest. Use these ideas to help soothe your mind:

  1. Allocate some time before you plan to go to sleep to relax your mindset.
  2. Switch off the tech so that your brain is not over stimulated with information.
  3. Dim the lighting to create a sense of calm.
  4. Keep a journal of your thoughts -this could be a list for what you plan to do the next day or jot down ideas which are floating around in your thoughts.
  5. Drink a cup of camomile tea – camomile has natural properties which will help relax you into a good night’s sleep.
  6. Find a distraction such a listening to music, a podcast, or read a book.
  7. Try some breathing exercises to relax your body.

Here at Cush Cush, we design and make soft furnishings for bedrooms which can feel both calming and comfortable. Our hand-made quilted bedspreads create extra depth and style for beds, whilst our roman blinds are available with black-out-backing to reduce incoming daylight through the windows.

Sprucing up your holiday home

Across the UK, holiday home owners and holiday property managers, are busy renovating, cleaning, and improving maintenance, in time for the arrival of families and holiday customers, during the coming summer holiday weeks ahead.

Ensuring that everything is looking tip top and working to its best condition is ultimately a priority for any holiday home owner. Going over and above your visitor’s expectations means a lot to the holiday provider and helps to deliver a great experience to guests, which they hope will be positively remembered forever.

When a holiday guest walks into a property and for the duration of their stay, they like to feel welcomed, and comfortable in rooms which boast space. Somewhere to unpack their suitcase and relax is the fundamental goal.

Furthermore, a holiday home bedroom should feel well maintained and clean, with freshly painted walls, strategically placed furniture to include good storage space and a decent size bed. To compliment further, why not add some elegant home comforts to soften the interior style, such as roman blinds or curtain drapes and complementary cushions. Finally, by adding a quilted bedspread or throw across your guest bed(s), will set off the room with an ultimate glamorous finish.

A high-quality bedspread for holiday home guests

Here in the UK, Cush Cush manufacture quilts & throws to order. Summer bedroom interior style – Where to find inspiration

How glorious has the weather been?! I don’t know about you but with all this sunshine it has inspired the team at Cush Cush to start talking about summer bedroom interior style. If your room is ready for a transformation and you are thinking of adopting a new interior style this summer, then we are here to help.

Tips for achieving the best summer bedroom interior style

Colour –Start by considering the colour. You only have to look outside at the delicate summer flowers coming into bloom to find colour inspiration. Floral fabrics represent these colour palettes beautifully. Choose bright floral prints for impact or more muted tones for a softer approach.

Accessories – A colour palette can derive from the simplest of accessories. Falling in love with a cushion, a lampshade, or a vase design, all can create a starting point for your new summer inspired bedroom design. Assess the detail and the colours within the print to see how you might use these within the room. Consider colour matching for fabrics, paintwork or wallpaper and find other accessories to compliment the design.

Soft Furnishings – A summer inspired bedroom interior, just wouldn’t be complete without summer style soft furnishings. Because the temperature is warmer it makes sense to opt for fabrics which are lighter in weight. Choose fabrics and drapes which will provide a cooler environment to keep the space light and airy. Our summer quilted bedspreads made by Cush Cush, can be quilted by using a thinner wadding in comparison to the heavier weight options. Draped over your super king size, king size, double or single bed and in a fabric of your choice, they beautifully complete your summer bedroom interior style with perfect elegance.

Choosing the right size bed for your room space

Selecting the right bed size to fit into a bedroom can sometimes be a challenge, especially if you are tight on space or if the room has an unusual layout.

Start by considering the room in terms of the position of the window, door and any other fixed storage which may restrict the layout. Identify the best location for the bed such as against a wall or in an alternative position if you have limited wall space.

Measure the room by width, length, and height so that you can figure out which bed size will be appropriate, without compromising on movement around the bed and so that it will fit suitably within the room, without overwhelming the space.

Choose a bed size which will comfortably fit the number of people who will use it. Common bed sizes are single, double, king size or queen size. If you are not sure as to which bed size will work best, you can use masking tape to mark out the shape on the floor. This can help you to envisage the layout in your mind more easily.

Other bedroom layout options to consider

If storage is a concern, then choose a bed with built-in-storage or select baskets to make an under-the-bed feature. The space under the bed is useful and will help to maximise the space in the room. It also helps to reduce the need for extra furniture which could clutter the room.

Once you have chosen a place for the bed, consider the furniture arrangement around it. The flow of the room is equally important, so think about placing wardrobes and dressers against walls for easy movement.

Finally, positioning mirrors strategically gives the illusion that the room is larger, especially if placed adjacent to a window or the bed. They also help to reflect the light around the room which helps the space to feel brighter.

Bedspreads for your chosen bed size

Here at Cush Cush, we make quilted bedspreads for all bed sizes. From single beds to double and king size, up to a magnificent queen size. If you have a fabric in mind or would like to order a fabric from our own selection, please get in touch to find out more. All we need to quote, is the size of the bed and then we can advise as to how much fabric you will need to order.

Where to find inspiration for your next bedroom makeover

Gathering ideas to plan your bedroom makeover project can be both exciting and a bit daunting. Afterall, trying to envisage how the overall look will come together and what type of features and furniture will blend, is not always easy to imagine.

Luckily, having worked with homeowners on styling bedrooms and interior projects over many years, our experienced team here at Cush Cush have gathered lots of ideas to help you start your bedroom makeover project.

Building a Bedroom Makeover Project Plan

  1. Who is the room for? Firstly, consider who the bedroom is for and who will use it. This will help to determine its starting point and the basis of the style that you are hoping to achieve.
  2. Likes and dislikes – Understand their likes and dislikes to provide a space which feels relaxing and somewhere, whereby they feel contented to spend their time in.
  3. Research – Gather ideas by looking online, search up styles on Pinterest, or flick through your favourite interior books and magazines. Online home stores often feature their products in beautiful settings too, consider their products, how they are positioned, and evaluate the setting and colour scheme around them.
  4. Sources of inspiration – Inspiration comes in many ways. It could be a fabric or wallpaper design that you really like, or the colour of a dress. Use this a starting point to help you build the layers of style and colour around it.
  5. Consider the property as a whole – Look to the other rooms within the property to find a style which will work in harmony. In a serene natural looking property, a bright vivid room may look to overpowering. Whilst traditional historical properties often suit heritage colours and styles, rather than modern wallpaper and furniture. Consider the age and location of the property to also help to define the room style.
  6. Build a mood board – Gather together pictures of products, order sample colour books for paint, wallpaper, and fabrics to build up an overall interior design plan to help you visualise how you will accomplish the room’s design.

Sourcing interior furnishings

Finally, for all your bedspread quilting and soft interior furnishing needs, Cush Cush are here to help bring your bedroom makeover together. Bespoke handmade quilted bedspreads, roman blinds and cushions are just some of the items we produce to complete the luxurious look of a bedroom. Getting your guest bedroom ready for Easter visitors

With the Easter holidays just around the corner, it is a perfect opportunity to make plans to catch up with family and friends. If you are arranging to have visitors to stay in your home this Easter, then why not give your guest bedroom a quick refresh beforehand, and spruce up the interior to make the room feel as welcoming as possible.

Guest bedroom Easter revamp

With just a few touches, you can easily upgrade your guest bedroom in time for your Easter guests arrival:

  1. To begin with, give the room a clean and throw open the windows to let the fresh air back into the space, especially if the bedroom has been shut up for a while.
  2. Next clear out any of your belongings which you may have stored as a quick chance to hide out of sight. If you have no other storage options available in the property, then consider how you can incorporate storage into the room. This will tidy your items away and leave the space clear and minimal for your guests.
  3. Consider which aspects of the room could be updated with a quick refresh. You don’t necessarily have to redecorate, but could spruce up the interior by replacing curtains with an elegantly designed roman blind and upgrade the bedding by draping an elegant quilted bedspread, all made and supplied by Cush, Cush.
  4. Finally consider some finishing touches such as lighting, cushions, accessories, and framed artwork on the walls to complete the look.

Launching your spring bedroom interior project

With the cold winter days and evenings nearly behind us, the promise of spring is just around the corner, and so it’s time to start planning your spring bedroom interior project.

If you have been eager to get going on your spring bedroom interior project but just holding out a little longer for the weather to warm up and the day light hours to extend, then now is the time to start planning in time to launch your spring bedroom interior project for March 2023.

So, the next question is, “Where to start”? Well to give you some inspiration, our interior design team at Cush Cush have come up with some ideas to help you make a start on your spring bedroom interior project.

Spring Bedroom Interior Project Planning

  1. Evaluate the room – Understand the space in its current condition as to what you like and what you don’t like. Ask yourself is the room to dark or too light and how could you work with this? What furniture do you love, and which items could be replaced or upcycled. Is there enough space and storage and who will use the room? By planning from the start, you can begin to understand as to how the room design will take shape throughout the interior re-style.
  2. Make the bed a feature – Due to its large-scale king-size measurements, the bed should always be the main focal point of the bedroom. The best way to accommodate this, is by adding a glamourous headboard and draping it with a luxurious custom-made quilt designed and made by Cush Cush. Choose a fabric which delights your senses and feels luxurious to touch for that ultimate feeling of extravagance.
  3. Build the interior in layers – By using your quilted bedspread as a starting point for your design, you can start to build up the style of the interior in layers bit by bit. Pick out colours in the fabric design to colour match paints, wallpapers, lighting, and accessories and begin to introduce more depth to the room by adding further details.

Finally, don’t forget that with any style of interior design, you can add and takeaway items as you see fit to do so. It is wonderful to just have a play with the design and work out what you admire and what you don’t like, as you begin to bring the whole room together.
