Embracing on a new year is always a great opportunity to reassess our homes and our lifestyles, to understand how we are making the best of them and where improvements could be made.

Here at Cush Cush, we love an interior design project, especially when it involves eye pleasing décor and charming soft furnishings, made with beautiful fabrics. If you have some home interior projects in mind for 2023, then here are some ideas to begin your interior upgrade plan.

Building an interior upgrade plan is a great way to work out where you would like to make changes to your home and how you envisage you will achieve them. There is always the challenge that some interior projects may be driven by time or planning around other personal commitments, whilst other projects can require extra financial investment. By building an interior upgrade plan through making the right choices, will help you to achieve your goals and have your home looking super swish by the end of 2023.

Building an interior upgrade plan

  1. Choose a room – Work out which rooms are a priority to focus on and start to think about how far you want to go with the design. Decide whether your upgrade is just minor details – maybe replacing furnishings, or if you are going all out with a full make-over, including redecoration, furniture, and carpet.
  2. Find the quick wins – Some rooms may just need a quick paint touch up or a new roman blind and so may not require too much time or investment to bring them back up to a point where you feel contented with their appearance.
  3. Considering the bigger projects – Sizable interior projects will take more time to complete and can require extra finance. Ideally you don’t want to cut corners and compromise on the design, so plan ahead, especially if building work and renovation is involved. Decide when is best to commence the project during the year, based around your own time to commit and the investment it will take to complete.
  4. Research – Research designs, colours schemes, paint and wallpapers, fabrics, furniture, and accessories. Give yourself some time to absorb your ideas so that you can begin to bring the final style together. Pinterest and home magazines a great place to gather inspiration. Plus, many DIY stores offer paint colour samples and charts to try out your favourite colours on walls and furniture.
  5. Start a calendar – Split the year into blocks to accommodate all of the above and work out when you would like to achieve the interior design projects by. Leave yourself some contingency time between each project encase they run over.
